Restoration company Barbara Rinetti Ltd., where the author spent her training, was commissioned by the Soprintendenza ai Beni Architettonici e Artistici del Piemonte to write up a project of restoration of furniture and decorations of the third floor of Palazzo Reale located Turin,  in Piazza Castello. Among the works of art retained therein, on the third floor there are wooden with canvas. The latter are of obvious decay, consisting of whitish build-up, of unknown nature and origin, with very localized and limited distribution. In order to know the constituent materials of the works, identify causes of degradation and possibly provide recommendations for proper restoration of the same, a research was performed, whose results are presented and discussed below.
